by Jessica Peterson

Still in the process of getting to know my new camera.
I am finding that it has been bringing me back to an earlier stage in my photography lifecycle and I am loving it.  I have needed this, something more pure and a little more honest.
Breathing...
-Thank you Michelle for sitting for me

SAN FRANCISCO: BROOKE AND DAVID by Jessica Peterson

This was such a fun wedding with so many great locations and details through out the reception.  Brooke really did a fantastic job creating a beautiful event full and made her wedding unique and special. I loved running around SF and using it as a massive backdrop for this sweet couple.

Congrats Brooke and David!

TODAY by Jessica Peterson

I had a really great day.

I woke up happy, I was so excited to get to work and edit (which normally I would not be excited about an editing day).  I edited the whole day and was happy the whole day.  This evening I had a small shoot, I photographed some beautiful people in a beautiful place and that made me happy.  Tonight I am going to go eat cereal for dinner with my boyfriend and that makes me happy too.  It is a good day.

A NEW FRIEND: FUJI x100 by Jessica Peterson

Been waiting to get this little dude for a while now.  I have had a few misfortunes smack me around this past month so I figured it was time for a little change and a new outlook on life... and what better way to do that than with a new camera.

I am excited to have this with me, no more giant SLR unless I'm shooting a job.

My heart is content.

Michelle and Brandon: July Wedding by Jessica Peterson

I photographed Michelle's Bridals in the studio
a few weeks before the wedding.
Her dress was amazing.
Getting ready images from the morning of the wedding.
I thought it was sweet the her cat sat and watched the whole process.
The wedding was so beautiful, Michelle is an artist so she had so many details that reflected the couple.
It was a beautiful evening.

A Chair, Michelle and a Mask by Jessica Peterson

Yesterday I decided that today would be dedicated to doing what I wanted to do and what I love.  LOVE...
Love keeps coming to my mind when I think of today.  I woke up and went on a search for my stool (I am laughing right now at the double meaning of that statement... but you know the one I mean), I have been dreaming of a nice, simple chair and today I was going to get it!  It took a few different shops to find it but when I did I knew we belonged together, it was love.  I had asked a bride of mine if she wouldn't mind sitting for me, she was sweet enough to come spend time with me and allow me to position her around my studio like the lovely doll she is, it was magic.
As you will see I also purchased some animal masks and wanted to bring them to life.
I am not sure why I am so attracted to creepy animal masks, I love the way they tear reality from itself and offer a bit of narrative.
I fell in love with my space again today.  I fell in love with light again.  I fell in love with solitude.  I fell in love with calm and quiet.

Lake Powell by Jessica Peterson

Last weekend we disappeared for a few nights to camp and boat in Lake Powell. If there is ever a time when I feel more small and significant at the same time it is in when I am amongst the history that the canyons bear.  I really enjoyed my time there, especially the consuming large amounts of Uncrustables and cheese dogs, hiding in creepy cool caves when the sun was to hot and being able to be without cell phones and internets to pull us away from the experience.
