New Post Of Old Work by Jessica Peterson

These are some old images I did for a still life class at Art Center.  It actually turned out to be a pretty fun project and have been thinking of revisiting and expanding on it.  I didn't use photoshop on any of these.  I would cut images and manually layer them to create shadow and depth.  (now that I look back I should have just used photoshop but I really enjoyed staying up late cutting tiny tiny birds out and making mini balloons out of clay to create dimension to everyday worlds.

So here you go.

Tiny Thoughts Become Great Adventures by Jessica Peterson

An exciting place for me to dwell has opened up to me,  although I have to say I have been looking for a new one for a while now.

From Alice in Wonderland:  Either the well was very deep, or she fell very slowly, for she had plenty of time as she went down to look about her and to wonder what was going to happen next.

I am excited for Adventure.

Mc Staches by Jessica Peterson

I drew this after hearing a funny story last night .
Tyler was at church and overheard one guy say to another who had giant eyebrows and a tiny spars stache, "when is your mustache going to grow up?"
I couldn't stop laughing when I heard that.

Max sleeping. sometimes I put things in his mouth to make funny teeth.

Hiking with Max (yes... I am a loner during the days and I spend a lot of time with my dog...)
The picture on the left is a squished snake. gross.

I can't live without: by Jessica Peterson

Pilot Hi-Tec-C Pens. I really can't do anything without them. I have OCD about a couple of things and using these pens is one of them. I usually stock up on these little babies at Art Center and I make them last to the last drop of ink. I honestly can't use anything else.

And of course these things. I just bought a new one this morning (joy).

I will also add to the list:
Diet Coke (as i sweetly sip on one at this very moment)
A car full of gas and a far off destination- windows down please
Cookies with chocolate chips inside
Internet with all of it splendor
Cameras
The dog
My music
Colors
Minty gum and sour candies
Mountains and Lakes and Trees
Witnessing large crowds of birds in flight
Pointing out akward people with akward characteristics
Chalkboards
Laughing till the tummy aches
Good illustrations and pop art
Genuine people
Avacados and chips

Putting together a Photo/Art group! Join us! by Jessica Peterson

My friend Sarah and I are photographers/crafters/arters.  We spend at least one day a week together chatting about photography, looking at creative blogs and planning crafts and mini business ventures.  We have been wanting to put together a type of club/meeting evening with others who feel and do the same as us.  Let me know if you are interested in joining a group where you can share projects, bounce ideas off of other creatives for feedback and simply being with others who share a passion for creative thinking, the more the merrier. Please comment below and leave your email if you would like to be contacted for our first official group meeting!  Most likely we will be meeting on weekday evening within the next few weeks.  This can be a really great thing if you want it to be.

Love

Jessica

the things in the boxes that live in my closets by Jessica Peterson

I moved houses this last week.  I have been going through all of my things and tossing out what I don't need/want and a big portion of those things have been images.  I have boxes and boxes of negatives, contact sheets, pictures, school assignments, crap and more crap.  It has been a fun process going through them all and observing scholastic progression through the images and reflecting on the 'old days'.   I have been really missing film and the grueling process of it... but not really.

This is the first polaroid I shot with my Mamiya 645.
PS I have been trying to sell it for a while if anyone is interested.

The beloved Holga!
I shot this top image on a drive from Utah to LA with Lou.
Remember this Lou?

I used to cut up my contact sheets and place the mini images
in little hand-made books and draw on them, this little guy was a straggler at the
bottom of a box, I almost threw him away.

Sweetheart Bear
This lovable giant of my dads passed away not too long ago.
We miss you Bear!

That was fun.

Sweet finds by Jessica Peterson

ooops... scanned sideways... to lazy to fix it.

Ryan and I took a stroll through the "antique" stores in downtown Provo yesterday.  Just like most everyone of you I love antiques, the surviving mementos and gateways to the past.  Anyway, we found a box of old post cards at Cats Cradle on Center St. and after sifting over hundreds of old cards these are the ones that caught my eye and I had to get them.  I wanted to share some of them with you.
Unfortunately the greetings written in the back are pretty mundane and not worth scanning and exploiting. I was hoping for sweet, sappy love notes from old lovers, maybe next time.

The top two are my favorite...

I think I am going to print them out on card card stock and use them for myself.
