Another great sight I have stumbled upon that makes me sincerely wonder why some people do art/photo/design.  What is the point if you can't dive into your imagination and come up with something beautiful on your own?  I understand getting inspired by others but its strange that some people plainly take from others...  check it.  This blog outs the silly people to copy to closely and get caught.

PS

I also want to add that I believe it is important/crucial to be looking at, being inspired by and learning from others.  There is a world of a difference between being inspired by others work then to steal design verbatim.

I am sorry if this has offended anyone with my opinion on this subject, that was not my intention.

Things That mean Things by Jessica Peterson

The other day I called around to all my friends asking if they had seen my bean shaped 1940's Tiffany necklace laying around there apartments.  At the time I thought I had lost one of my favorite necklaces and I was aching from sadness.  I don't mean to sound like I am materialistic and need things to make me feel complete but I am sentimental to a fault, Trav gave me the necklace a few years back for Christmas and I have been in love with it since.
This little experience led me to want to document some of the things that hold little bits of history I wouldn't want to lose if these objects were lost.

My Grandmothers ring that my Grandfather had given her, I believe it is a smokey topaz?

My favorite ring, Tra found at a vintage store and gave to me knowing I would love, love, love it

My Grandma Peterson earrings which I have adopted to be my favorite earrings

The necklace I thought I lost but found it intertwined with another necklace

The bracelet my dad came home from the hospital wearing after he was born

Fabric Petals from a quilt my Grandmother made

Grandfathers pocket watch

The Bible my Grandfather used while serving a LDS mission 1920's

Pictures by Jessica Peterson

I know these photos are a little bit confusing.
I photographed with Andersen Studios yesterday, they are shooting a music video for a SLC band, hence the dog, the bum (which is Isaac dressed like a bum), the bizarro bike and Eddie dressed like he is too cool for school.

It was a blast and I really enjoyed the confusion on the surrounding publics faces.

Ok
I am not really in a wheelchair, Mark uses the wheelchair as a dolly for shooting footage and I decided to use it as my chair/transportation device for the evening.  I got lazy so Isaac ended up pushing me around.  We got some looks.

Wishing... by Jessica Peterson

I keep finding myself wishing for things.

such as...

I wish max would stop chewing on things and would act like a grown up
I wish I never needed sleep
I wish plane tickets were as cheap as bus fares
I wish donuts had the same calorie count and carrots ( i would eat donuts all day)
I wish I could buy a house with an orange fridge and a yard with a purple garden
I wish there was a beach outside my back door
I wish I had the 5d mark II camera
I wish Jimmy, Oliver and Abby were closer
I wish it wasn't so hot outside

and on and on....

Nevernude Is The New Skinny Jean by Jessica Peterson

for some reason this will not post right side up... I have tried everything.

Nevernude drawings... been doing a lot of them.

here are some themed nevernude cutoffs.  If you are unsure what this "nevernude" thing is youtube it, Arrested Development.  I am a slave to pop culture what can I say.

New Post Of Old Work by Jessica Peterson

These are some old images I did for a still life class at Art Center.  It actually turned out to be a pretty fun project and have been thinking of revisiting and expanding on it.  I didn't use photoshop on any of these.  I would cut images and manually layer them to create shadow and depth.  (now that I look back I should have just used photoshop but I really enjoyed staying up late cutting tiny tiny birds out and making mini balloons out of clay to create dimension to everyday worlds.

So here you go.

Tiny Thoughts Become Great Adventures by Jessica Peterson

An exciting place for me to dwell has opened up to me,  although I have to say I have been looking for a new one for a while now.

From Alice in Wonderland:  Either the well was very deep, or she fell very slowly, for she had plenty of time as she went down to look about her and to wonder what was going to happen next.

I am excited for Adventure.

Mc Staches by Jessica Peterson

I drew this after hearing a funny story last night .
Tyler was at church and overheard one guy say to another who had giant eyebrows and a tiny spars stache, "when is your mustache going to grow up?"
I couldn't stop laughing when I heard that.

I can't live without: by Jessica Peterson

Pilot Hi-Tec-C Pens. I really can't do anything without them. I have OCD about a couple of things and using these pens is one of them. I usually stock up on these little babies at Art Center and I make them last to the last drop of ink. I honestly can't use anything else.

And of course these things. I just bought a new one this morning (joy).

I will also add to the list:
Diet Coke (as i sweetly sip on one at this very moment)
A car full of gas and a far off destination- windows down please
Cookies with chocolate chips inside
Internet with all of it splendor
Cameras
The dog
My music
Colors
Minty gum and sour candies
Mountains and Lakes and Trees
Witnessing large crowds of birds in flight
Pointing out akward people with akward characteristics
Chalkboards
Laughing till the tummy aches
Good illustrations and pop art
Genuine people
Avacados and chips
