Party Contour Drawings by Jessica Peterson

Here are some more blind contour drawings. Last night we had a small house warming party at my new place. Later in the evening I wanted to do some portraits, I don't think I can get bored of them.

Melanie J and Michelle C
Patrick K and Chris H
Claire B and Pearl J
(Claire looks like a Simpsons character)
Just some names and Katie B
Jackie S and Andrew G
Another Andrew and Me

This is from a text I got from my 4 year old nephew a bit ago reminding me to come see him...
He is 4 and he sent me a text message... what kind of world are we living in? Either way I about cried when I got it.

keeping my camera with me pays off sometimes by Jessica Peterson

Last week while driving home I saw this, at first I just though there was a car being lifted onto a tow truck but when I saw what was really going on I almost died laughing (which is okay because no one was hurt, the driver in the white car was driving 70 before lifting the SUV...idiot). Well, I was just happy to get a picture to show you.

Maybe I am the only one that will think this is funny but Scott ran over some gum. I love how perfectly stretched it is.

Yay for what I will make of tomorrow by Jessica Peterson

(I took these a few days ago while on my way out the door, somehow I hadn't noticed them before and that made me a little sad)

A while back I promised myself I would never again blog late at night but ooops... it's almost 3 am and here I am. I tend to write things I regret when it is this late, lack of censorship and magnified emotions.
I am tired from going full speed in place, does that ever happen to any of you? So tomorrow I will make sure to sleep in, I am going to take myself on a date for a little bit and just catch up on being alive (something I have avoided).

While at work I chitchat with Claire over gchat, most days I quickly make up a pseudo life for myself to let her know who I really am/supposed to be, sometimes I am gemologist or wildlife biologist, sometimes I am at home sewing something for a kid and about to pick tomatoes from my garden for lunch. Today I was okay with being where I was, that was nice.

okay.

The magnetic field of toilet water. by Jessica Peterson

This is maybe the sixth time I have dropped my phone in the toilet. This time it was my iphone (my 3rd iphone)...

Today's email conversation with my brother:

Me: dropped my phone in the toilet, I have no way of getting a hold of mom, can you email me her number?

Travis: jess... new rule, no bringing phone into the toilet. Maybe you should get an ipad so it wont fir through the hole.

My brother has a point.

A Tuesday by Jessica Peterson

Today:
This morning I found a giant cookie waiting for me on the windshield of my car (thanks Bobby-it was THE best cookie).
Hour commute to work accompanied by rain and a mental gratitude list.
Spent 8 hours with my head next to burning strobe lights, thought to myself the entire time "I should have become a vet"... but not really.
Hour and 20 minute commute home, had one particular song on repeat for about 20 of those minutes, still craving it.
Dinner in a trolley.
Computer malfunction (or jessica malfunction) now I am on backup computer that belongs in the back of the trash bin.
Wanting to sleep and will in a minute after getting my 30 Rock fix.

I spent most of my day in silence, sometimes that needs to happen. Made a
personal inventory...what needs to stay, what needs to go and what is missing.

Dear Roy Lichtenstein, by Jessica Peterson

I think about your work often. Sometimes your images pop into my head during the more dramatic times in my life and somehow it romanticizes it all into something bearable... I know that was not your intent but thank you for that.

BTW I especially love Drowning Girl, it was the wallpaper on my phone for about a year.

Love,
Jessica

Rainy Day by Jessica Peterson

Today was simple and that is okay with me.

-Woke up and sent resumes and emails out. Hoping they land in the hands of the right people.
-Took Max to the park, I love when it is a little wet outside, he slides around the grass like a clumsy pup.
-Brought out my camera for fun, wanted to document the tiny corners of my day.
-Taught the last class at BYU, it was nice to see the student's work.
-$4 yummy dinner with Stina, Bobert and B.
- Quick stop at the Malt-Shoppe for oreo shake. Took 5 bites and was done.

Like I said, today was simple.

On my shelf:

and of course... the dog.
He follows me around all day as if I he was starving and I was a large dripping slab of meat.

Paper Circles by Jessica Peterson

Here is the shoot from Saturday...
I had tons of fun photographing promo images for Katie Brandeburg who is a dear friend of mine and a great musician (see her here). I wanted to do something feminine and graphic at the same time... I liked the ides of having these little bubbles following her around the way creativity/light/ideas follow us around waiting to be captured and solidified.

*Katie keep going...
